Dr. Adele Webb is a member of the Nursing One Executive Council. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Akron, her Master’s in Nursing from The Ohio State University, and her PhD in Nursing from Wayne State University. Dr. Webb began her nursing career as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse. She later transitioned into working in the emergency room in a pediatric setting. In the early 1990’s, Dr. Webb began focusing on the rates and impacts of HIV in under-developed countries. Over the last 25 years, her focus has been on international nurse capacity building as it relates to both communicable and non-communicable diseases. She currently is the Executive Dean of Healthcare Initiatives at Strategic Education, Inc.
   
Dr. Webb has received extensive funding for her international work and has published her findings in several refereed journals. She has contributed to the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, testified to the Institute of Medicine, and given testimony to the White House on nursing workforce issues. As a sought-out speaker on international nursing care issues, Dr. Webb continues to collaborate with the WHO as well as the World Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Congress. Her contributions to this work have increased nurse capacity building in 43 countries. In recognition of her body of work, she has received the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care Lifetime Achievement Award and the Nicholas Andrew Cummings award for Excellence in Interprofessional Practice from the National Academies of Practice. Dr. Webb is a Fellow in the International Council of Nurses Global Health, the National Academies of Practice, and the American Academy of Nursing.
